16 Day Itinerary

Day 1

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to northern France for an overnight stay.

Day 2

Continue to northern Italy for an overnight stay.

Day 3

To Ancona for the overnight ferry to Igoumenitsa in Greece (ensuite cabins included).

Day 4 - Meteora

Morning arrival at Igoumenitsa then we follow the scenic road to the beautiful town of Ioannina. Continue onward to Meteora, possibly one the most impressive sites in Greece. Meteora, (literally meaning ‘hanging from the sky’) are gigantic rock formations in a scenic setting. On top of these rocks hide stunning monasteries. We will meet with our local guide and visit at least two of the monasteries. Overnight in Kalambaka.

Day 5 - Delphi

Head south, through the mountains to Delphi, located on the side of Mount Parnassos, for an included visit to the site and the museum with a local guide. Later we continue via the picturesque village of Arachova, to Athens for a three-night stay.

Day 6 - Athens with Guided Tour

Included panoramic guided tour of Athens, seeing the House of Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Constitution Square and the Presidential Palace. We will also visit the Acropolis. Enjoy a short walk in the famous Plaka area, where we enjoy lunch at a typical Greek taverna. In the afternoon, you can take an optional tour along the coastal road of Attica to Cape Sounion, for a guided visit to the temple of Poseidon.

Day 7 - Saronic Islands

Time at leisure to explore Athens at your own pace. Alternatively, join our optional magnificent day cruise to explore the nearby Saronic Islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. Enjoy lunch on board ship before a late afternoon arrival. Return to Piraeus and transfer to Athens. This evening, you can enjoy an optional dinner at a typical Greek restaurant with live music and folk-dance show.

Day 8 - Corinth Canal, Epidaurus and Nafplion

Leaving Athens we drive along the coastal road towards the Corinth Canal for an included visit. Enjoy a short stop for photos at this magnificent feat of engineering, then continue to Epidaurus. We meet our local guide for a guided visit to the magnificent amphitheatre of Epidaurus, famous for its acoustics. Our day continues to Nafplion (the first capital of modern Greece). Free time to explore one of the most beautiful towns of the Peloponnese. We continue to the nearby resort village of Tolo for a four-night stay.

Day 9 - Corinth and Nemea

A free day today for you to relax and enjoy the sun and the sea. You can also join an optional excursion to ancient Corinth, and to the nearby Nemea region, famous for its wine production, where you will have the chance for winetasting.

Day 12 - Mycenae

We drive towards Mycenae to meet our guide for an included visit to the site of Mycenae with the famous Lion’s Gate and Agamemnon’s Tomb. We continue our drive via Tripolis and Megalopolis and arrive at Olympia for an overnight stay.

Day 13 - Olympia

We begin our included day at the home of the first Olympic games. Meet with our local guide for an included visit to the site of ancient Olympia, and of course, the outstanding museum. Continue to Patras for the overnight ferry to Ancona, Italy (en-suite cabins included).

Day 14

Arrive in Ancona and head north to the Lake Garda region for an overnight stay.

Day 15

To Belgium for an overnight stay.

Day 16

Travel to Calais, then return home.

Accommodation

In Greece you’ll stay for one night in Kalambaka at the 3-star hotel Orfeas, or similar, followed by three nights in Athens at the 4-star Hotel Stanley, or similar.

In Tolo you will stay for four nights at the 3-star Hotel Minoa, or similar, and then one night at the 3-star Hotel Neda, or similar, in Olympia.

Overnight stays in northern France, northern Italy and Belgium are in city-style hotels. Overnight in the Lake Garda area will be in a 3-star hotel.
