14 Day Itinerary

Day 1

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to the Rouen area for an overnight stay.

On coach holidays of 7 days’ duration or more and Single Traveller coach holidays, you don’t even have to think about getting to your local joining point.

If you live within 20 miles of one of our free joining point, we’ll pick you up from your home and take you to meet your feeder coach, then return you back home at the end of your holiday. On European coach holidays of 7 days' or more, the cost of this is just £30 per booking each way (Up to 4 people per booking). For Single Traveller holidays, it’s free of charge.

If you live a little further afield, you can also take advantage of this convenient option for an additional charge

Day 2 - Honfleur, Mont St. Michel and St. Malo

Included excursion exploring the beautiful Normandy and Brittany coastline. Honfleur, with its 17th century Old Dock, is always a favourite. Next, we visit the picturesque island site of Le Mont St. Michel with its impressive abbey, then the fortified town of St. Malo, with its splendid city walls. Overnight in the St. Malo area.

Day 3 - Tours, Azay-le-Rideau

We head to the Loire Valley for a two-night stay in Chinon, a smart ‘bourgeois’ town. Enjoy an included visit to the leafy village of Azay-le- Rideau, with its small but incredibly beautiful château.

Day 4 - Loire Valley Châteaux

Included full day exploring the lovely Loire Valley and its châteaux. We travel first to the picturesque town of Blois. We continue to Amboise on the banks of the Loire River. We end the day at the village of Chenonceaux, home to the Château de Chenonceau built over the river Cher.

Day 5 - Oradour-sur-Glane

En route to Rocamadour in the Dordogne for a two-night stay, we visit the Remembrance village of Oradour-sur-Glane, scene of a German SS massacre of the villagers. The ruined village has been left exactly as it was during the war.

Day 6 - Rocamadour

Full day at leisure in Rocamadour, perched high on a limestone cliff in the heart of the Dordogne.

Day 7 - Carcassonne

We drive through the beautiful Dordogne countryside to Carcassonne for an overnight stay. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure exploring Carcassonne, with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside from the walls of the old city.

Day 8 - Béziers and the Grotte de Clamouse

This morning we travel to the medieval town of Béziers, then to the famous Grotte de Clamouse to see the calcite and aragonite formations. Continue to Aix-en-Provence for a three-night stay.

Day 9 - Bormes les Mimosas, Fréjus and St. Raphael

Our included excursion to the Côte d’Azur begins at the pretty floral village of Bormes les Mimosas, considered to be one of the prettiest in France. We continue to Fréjus and St. Raphael, two striking riviera resorts, both with charming old centres, fine beaches and homes of the rich and famous.

Day 10 - Gorges du Verdon

Free time in Aix-en-Provence or join our optional tour to one of the most impressive natural sights in Europe, the Gorges du Verdon. This dramatic gorge is a sight not to miss as the pretty River Verdon flows through this precipitous valley.

Day 11 - Ardèche

En route to the Lyon/Macon area for an overnight stay we explore the wild, rugged, yet intensely beautiful scenery of the Ardèche, seeing quaint villages clinging to the hillsides, as well as the famous Gorges de l’Ardèche and the Pont d’Arc, a spectacular arch carved out by the Ardèche river.

Day 12

To the Paris area for a two-night stay.

Day 13 - Paris

Included full day in the ‘city of lights’. Join our optional, guided sightseeing tour to see all the major sights.

Accommodation

Overnight stays in the Rouen, St. Malo, Lyon/Macon and Paris areas will be in minimum 2-star city-style hotels. In the Loire Valley you will stay at the 3-star Ibis Chinon or similar for two nights, followed by two nights at the 2-star Hotel Lion d’Or in Rocamadour, or similar. You will then spend one night at a 2-star hotel in the Carcassonne area, and three nights at the 3-star Novotel Beaumanoir, or similar in Aix-en-Provence.
