7 Day Itinerary

Day 1

Local departure by coach or Door-to-Door service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.

On coach holidays of 7 days’ duration or more and Single Traveller coach holidays, you don’t even have to think about getting to your local joining point.

If you live within 20 miles of one of our free joining point, we’ll pick you up from your home and take you to meet your feeder coach, then return you back home at the end of your holiday. On European coach holidays of 7 days' or more, the cost of this is just £30 per booking each way (Up to 4 people per booking). For Single Traveller holidays, it’s free of charge.

If you live a little further afield, you can also take advantage of this convenient option for an additional charge

Day 2 - Cologne

We head to Cologne; its Old Town is a haven with welcoming bars, restaurants and the magnificent Dom, the Gothic cathedral, which dominates this fine city. We continue through the Rhine Gorge to reach Assmannshausen for a five-night stay.

Day 3 - Rüdesheim

Included visit to the picturesque riverside ‘wine town’ of Rüdesheim. Explore the lively Drosselgasse, a narrow street with cosy cafés, shops and bars. In the afternoon, join our optional sightseeing drive by little road train, which includes a visit to Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, with its fascinating self-playing musical instruments.

Day 4 - Cochem and the Moselle Valleys

Today’s optional excursion begins at Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet, then continues along the gentle Moselle Valley to charming Cochem. Later, enjoy an optional winetasting at the House of Anton Hammes in Alken, where you can learn more about the wine making processes and have the chance to sample and buy.

Day 5 - Rhine Valley

Full-day included excursion exploring the Rhine Valley, seeing the world-famous Loreley Rock and visiting Boppard, with its splendid Rhine Promenade and St. Goar, home to the world’s largest cuckoo clock shop. The perfect way to view the Rhine is from the water on our optional river cruise through the Rhine Gorge, seeing picturesque villages, terraced vineclad slopes and many ancient castles (Kaub, Cat and Mouse, to name a few).

Day 6 - Heidelberg

Optional excursion to the beautiful town of Heidelberg with its Castle, one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Germany and charming Old Town with its maze of little streets.

Day 7

Return home.

Accommodation

You will stay for five nights at the traditional 3-star Hotel Alte Bauernschänke in charming Assmannshausen in the Rhine Valley.

The hotel has been welcoming Leger guests for many years and is typically ‘Rhineland’ in style, with an atmosphere to match. The original building is over 600 years old, and there is entertainment most evenings, a lift, restaurant, large bar area and a recently opened ‘state of the art’ wellness centre including sauna, steam-bath, massage, beautician and relaxation area.

The overnight stay in Belgium will be in a city-style hotel.
